For developers, is UX the magic bullet?

As a developer, having your hand in the stream of information within your field is a job necessity. We tend to watch things we're interested in, debate the issues we are passionate about, and ignore the ancillary.

Well, what if I told you that the ancillary, especially within Drupal, was key to making your life easier?

It's been a major focus in Drupal 7, especially with the user, but User Experience (UX) principles have just as much potential within developer circles too!

I know. I know. These are probably some of the questions you're asking yourself:

  1. How could long, drawn-out functional specifications help me learn Drupal hooks?
  2. Why is A/B testing important when I'm creating a custom form?
  3. What is the point of walking through a Heuristic Markup exercise when all I'm doing is making the block appear?
  4. Even more, why do I care about these principles AT ALL?

All great questions! You'll just have to vote for my session at Drupalcon Chicago and come prepared for mind 'splosion!
