Treehouse has many great sessions that we are proposing for the next DrupalCon but the one I am most excited about is "There's a Technology for That!"
Those who know me will attest that for many years I prided myself and my company on the fact that we were technology agnostic...until we discovered Drupal. Though it took a little longer, I admit to drinking the Kool-Aid, but am happy to report that I am sobering up. I'm not saying that we are abandoning Drupal--or have found a better CMS platform to build off of --I'm simply acknowledging the fact that we have reestablished the healthy process of considering other technologies where it makes sense.
Drupal is an amazing platform, and will (I believe) be at the heart of most things we do for the next few years. But as a company building truly LARGE sites, we need to be open to how other technologies might compliment our core Drupal build. Exploring other tech has the added benefit of making us better as Drupal developers because we can come at our projects with a fresh (technology) perspective.
We embrace the fact that no technology is a one-size-fits-all solution. At our core, we are technologists and get excited at the prospect of new technologies that might operate more efficiently, scale better or simply "wow" us. We still love the Drupal Kool-Aid, make no mistake. We just think it tastes even better when you've had some other tasty beverages.
If this all sounds interesting to you - please be sure to vote for our session and then join us for a spirited debate.
Our planning for DrupalCon is in full force! Along with sessions, we have some fun little--and maybe not so little--ideas cooking...sign up for our monthly newsletter to get the latest Treehouse news, best of our blog, and the little hints we drop along the way to Chicago! (Here's a freebie...they're baaack!)
